Starting XI

The starting XI for the NC Courage consisted of Casey Murphy, Kaleigh Kurtz, Abby Erceg, Merritt Mathias, Brianna Pinto, Denise O’Sullivan, Carson Pickett, Fuka Nagano, Debinha, Diana Ordoñez, and Kerolin.

All Courage

The scoring was all Courage, including two first-time NWSL goal scorers. NWSL 2022 Rookie of the year contender, Diana Ordóñez found the back of the net a pair of times with the first goal of the evening in the 10′, and another in the 74′ minute. Newcomer to the Courage, Fuka Nagano scored in the 64′ in only her second appearance for the club. Rylee Baisden, who subbed in in the 83′ scored 5 minutes later for her first NWSL goal, dribbing in from the right side, passing to Kerolin, before receiving the result of the 1-2 pass, sending it past Alyssa Naeher on the ground on the left side of the goal.

Next for North Carolina Courage

The Courage are back at home again this evening, playing the Portland Thorns, August 24, 2022 at 7:00 PM before embarking on a two-game away stint, playing Kansas City Current again, and then NJ/NY Gotham FC before returning back home on September 10 against Racing Louisville FC.
