The Friday, May 28, 2021 match was some firsts for the early 2021 North Carolina Courage season in Cary, NC. The match was the first home match against the new Racing Louisville FC squad and the first match with Sam Mewis returning to the NC Courage midfield. Best of all, it was the first 2021 win for the NC Courage in a commanding fashion, ending up with a 5-0 clean sheet for goalkeeper Casey Murphy, her second of the season.

Abby Erceg, Lynn Williams, and Hailie Mace scored their first goals of the 2021 season in Friday evening’s match against Racing Louisville FC, along with Debinha scoring in the 68′, while Mace scored her second goal of the evening in the 89′.

Sam Mewis returned to the lineup after finishing the 2020-2021 season with Manchester City, while the Courage finished the game with 64% possession and 84% passing accuracy.

The Courage next head to Chicago to face the Red Stars on Saturday, June 5, 2021 with a 3pm ET start at SeatGeek Stadium, with US streaming on Paramount+.
